Good Bye Snail Mail

Twice a year the Alumni Board produces and distributes the Cornucopia in conjunction with the Active Chapter. This is a large project with myriad problems, not the least of which is the cost of mailing the finished newsletters. At roughly $1,000 per issue for printing and mailing, it takes a sizeable chunk out of our budget. It's also a slow process, because we utilize the bulk mailing system to save on postage.

Alumni Referrals: A Great Way to Stay Involved

As Fall recruitment gets underway, now is a great time for alumni to take part in this never ending task.  As actives, all we need from you is a name and number of any freshmen or sophomores enrolled at University of Wisconsin.  With our new and improved recruiting skills, we can take care of the rest.  Putting in a good word with your referrals about DTS doesn't hurt either.  If you have a referral you would like us to recruit please contact our Rush Chairman Nicholas Woboril at (715)-340-1421 or by email (

Alton Block: A Brother Lost


Alton BlockMadison, WI: Alton D. Block, age 89 passed away at Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center following a courageous battle with cancer, August 4, 2010.

He was known for his sense of humor, wing tip shoes, and dress hat collection. He was widely known in the agricultural community, Kiwanis and numerous organizations. He was a lay speaker at the First Methodist churches in Shawano, Waupun, and Madison.
 
Alton graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1938. He attended the Eau Claire State Teacher's College then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. With the sudden death of his father in 1940, he returned home to operate the farm for three years.

Summer Picnic 2010

 

This year’s Summer Picnic was hosted by Jim Petersen at his beautiful

home in Columbus, WI. He was kind enough to show us his apple orchard and his flock

of sheep before lunch. There were burgers, brats, a few very tasty pasta salads, and Nick

Witte and his wife even brought a smoked salmon.
